Dr Keyvan Vakili is an Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and the Academic Co-Director of the Data Science & AI Initiative at London Business School.

His research focuses on innovation, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence. He has published extensively in leading strategy and management journals. Beyond research, he is actively involved in developing AI solutions and initiatives at LBS, helping to shape the school’s approach to data science and emerging technologies.

At LBS, Keyvan teaches executives and senior leaders on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and competitive strategy, drawing on both his academic expertise and practical experience. Before academia, he founded a video game production company that was later acquired by Samsung and worked as a consultant across various industries, including automotive, energy, education, and technology. Today, he serves on the advisory boards of companies in Agentic AI, healthcare, and finance domains, bridging his academic insights with real-world innovation.

In his research, Keyvan studies how collaboration, team design, and incentives shape innovation and creative breakthroughs. In a separate research stream on digital platforms, he investigates how platform’s governance choices can drive growth, and at the same time lead to myopic behaviour by platform participants. Ongoing work explores novelty vs. impact in creative settings, quality trade-offs in patent and technology races, and the workforce implications of generative AI.

Heiko Hotz is an Affiliate Lecturer at London Business School and a Generative AI Global Blackbelt at Google Cloud, where he builds production AI systems and advises enterprise customers on Generative AI adoption and transformation.

An AI leader and hands-on practitioner with over 23 years in technology and more than nine years focused on machine learning and AI, he combines deep engineering experience with strategic advisory. He also writes for O’Reilly and is co-authoring a book on real-time AI agent systems.

At LBS, Heiko developed and teaches “Generative AI Product Design”, a hands-on course covering large language model fundamentals, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, evaluation, and LLMOps, and delivers sessions for the Executive Education programme that help C-level leaders translate complex, ambiguous questions into effective, business-aligned AI solutions. Before academia, he held senior AI and data science roles at Amazon, AWS, and now Google Cloud, having begun his career as a software engineer and management consultant across the energy, financial, and technology sectors.

At Google Cloud, Heiko has grown enterprise Generative AI adoption at scale, authored the official reference architecture for the Gemini Live API, and acts as a “voice of the developer” shaping the Gemini product roadmap. He is a widely-read author and speaker on Generative AI architecture, AI agents, and multimodal systems, and founded NLP London, the city’s leading community for natural-language-processing practitioners. He holds an MBA from London Business School and a Master’s in Theoretical Physics and Computer Science.
